Freelance BI Analyst

For a leading player in the energy sector, we are supporting the search for an experienced BI Analyst with strong expertise in Power BI and data modeling. In this role, you will contribute to a large-scale modernization of the data and analytics landscape, with a clear focus on customer-centric insights.

The organization is in the midst of a strategic transformation of its data platform to support a new CRM and billing system for B2C customers. Data from various sources (CRM, billing, mobile apps, web platforms, dunning & recovery tools, etc.) is consolidated into a single integrated Databricks-based platform.

Objective: reliable, scalable, and well-governed data insights that support business and operations.

As a BI Analyst, you act as a bridge between business and data. You gather BI needs from stakeholders, translate these into clear analytical requirements, and develop dashboards that balance flexibility and governance.

Your responsibilities include:

Business & Requirements

• Collaborate closely with your team to understand business processes

• Challenge, structure, and document BI and reporting needs

• Translate business questions into analytical requirements and data specifications

Reporting & Dashboards

• Design data models (facts & dimensions) and establish relationships

• Use DAX for calculated columns and measures

• Develop interactive Power BI dashboards with appropriate visuals and functionalities (filters, slicers, drill-through, etc.)

Data & Modeling

• Collaborate with data engineers and architects to understand source data models

• Contribute to data governance and quality through clear documentation

• Optimize solutions in terms of performance, scalability, cost, and usability

• Proven experience as a BI Analyst in Energy Retail or a similar customer-focused environment

• Strong knowledge of Power BI (DAX, Power Query, dataflows, etc.)

• Solid understanding of dimensional modeling (star schema)

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Fluent communication and experience in stakeholder management

• Experience with data governance and visualization standards

Plus

• Good knowledge of SQL

• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology

• Familiarity with Fabric and modern data platforms such as Databricks

Education & Certification

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Information Management, or a related field

• Minimum 5 years of experience with Power BI

• Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300) certification

Languages

• Fluent in Dutch or French

• Good command of English
